UPDATE: 3/6/2018
I am happy to report that the smell is gone! This is absolutely my favorite place so I was really glad when they fixed whatever was making that noxious stench. My dogs LOVE this place and it's so pretty. I can't tell you how happy I am that it smells good again!
We were up there today and they were doing a lot of maint. on the baseball/soccer/etc fields. Very busy! They also put out a ton of extra portapotties and scattered trashcans throughout the parking lot. Even if I don't enjoy sports, it looks like sports lovers are gonna have a real good time this year!
On top of that, there are turtles in the lake! It's not a deal breaker but it makes me happy to know that so many turtles found a safe/life-sustaining pond to live in like that.
I have changed my review and the stars to reflect this change.

This was one of our favorite parks for a while now. There's a ton of land, well maintained grass, smooth sidewalks, nice baseball fields and well kept playgrounds.
Sometimes, you would get the random person who wouldn't have their dogs leashed but the place is so spacious that if you stayed keen on your surroundings, you could anticipate and react accordingly.
Unfortunately, something is going on recently with the giant hill that overlooks the park. On the right, there was a swarm of birds, I mean absolutely a massive flock flying in circles over something, though I couldn't tell you what as it was at the top of the hill.
We got out of the car and caught an absolutely noxious odor that we originally thought was just a really bad dog poop someone didn't clean up but the longer we lingered at the park, the stronger the smell became.
Checking our shoes and surroundings, we didn't find poop but glancing at that hill, we saw the dozens and dozens of birds and then strangely, to the far left I saw fire atop the hill!
I don't know what they were burning but that fire was quite large if I could see it plainly all the way over by the jungle gyms.
Gag reflexes triggered, we rushed back to the car, even having to breathe through our mouths (gross) just to keep from retching over the smell in our noses.
There were a few maintenance trucks rolling around but it didn't look serious. We also saw a big truck rolling up the big hill but still not sure what the hubbub was about.
Hopefully they fix it soon, the place is too nice to smell so rotten.
