Ramen Hakata

I really wanted to like this place. Good atmosphere, nice menus and selection, great server, fast service. But I was pretty skeptical after eating at the Addison location, which is probably 1.5 stars and more unpleasant than drinking straight soy sauce. The Frisco location is better as the ratings suggest. At least it’s edible. But it suffers to a lesser degree from the same issue: it is painfully salty. At least at this location, the broth is all right, and it’s just the toppings that are over salty. I agree that the noodles themselves are pretty good, which is the only thing that brings this review to three stars. The chasu was dry and over cooked (soaking in the broth helped). The toppings are sparse. And by God it is salted beyond belief. On top of this, there were random flecks of burnt crisp floating around in the soup. This was not one of the toppings, just a concerning detail.
