Doesn't get much worse than this. Rented and returned the same day. For the next 2+ weeks received a call/voicemail every day telling me to return the vehicle. I informed multiple times of the mistake, and was assured multiple times it would be fixed. Clearly it was not. Further, I began getting $100 charges each day to my credit card. After a couple weeks even received a letter in the mail that it would be reported stolen. After finally getting it "resolved" the calls (I was told the local office kept forgetting to close the rental) stopped and the daily $100 charges stopped and I got my final actual receipt for charges -- I was charged for multiple days and at a rate higher than I had booked. Thankfully I had the original email confirmation as proof. So here I am again full circle trying to get Hertz' mistakes correct at my time and expense. I'm told it will take at least another week to fix the most recent mistake. After the most recent call to correct the charges I asked the woman who claimed it would be fixed to send me some sort of confirmation of the correction. She replied that she could not. I asked that she at least provide me some sort of confirmation number that I could reference the dollar amount of the correction. She said it would just be my original reservation number. I finally asked then if she could simply tell me the dollar correction that she had submitted for me. She informed me of the correction she submitted, and true to my suspicions (why I was asking for a confirmation to be sent in the first place) she read off to me the wrong correction. I started renting with Hertz because I'd read their Rewards Program was one of the best. It may be, but however good it may be is simply not worth the hassle of company mistakes and poor customer service resolving said mistakes.
