This one star review is specific to the resort. Before I made my reservation, I read from other reviews complains about cabins not having a fridge, stove, or a place to prepare food. I also read about some hidden fees, but none of those complains seemed bad enough, so I went ahead and booked a cabin. However, After a two hours drive there, we were forced to turn around and get a refund of our deposit. Here is why:
- Hidden fees more than expected. The won't tell you until you already paid the deposit, that they also charge per person per day on top of the cabin's nightly fee. I thought the hidden fees mentioned on other reviews would be a resort, environmental, or something like that fee. A per person fee when you already paid 150 dollars plus taxes per night for the cabin is too much. So, I thought that if I brought my own food to cook, I would offset these per person fees by not buying from their restaurant… well, keep reading.
- Cooking is not allowed in or around the cabins at all. I tried to find this on their policies online, and there was nowhere to be found. Even electric griddles are prohibited.
- Staff unwilling to provide options or solutions to guests. I called before driving there asking about bringing a charcoal grill. They said no open flame was allowed because of the burning ban. Alright, no problem, so I brought an electric griddle. Once I get there, they had entered in my reservation that I was bringing a grill. How did they know it was me who called?? No idea. I never gave them my name or reservation number. Anyway, I said I had an Electric griddle, no charcoal, no gas, no flame at all, and all they could say is "I am sorry, that is not allowed". I asked why if there is no open flame. They said that "cooking was not allowed in or around the cabins at all". They did not give us any options like cooking in a picnic area, or maybe storing our food in one of their fridge for a couple of days. I would have even taken a discount at their restaurant so I did not have to turn around. But no, if I wanted to cook my own food or eat without breaking the bank, I had to do it somewhere else. In my opinion, this is just a way to force people eat at their restaurant. I really felt unwelcome at this place for wanting to cook my own meals.
This place does have good things to offer, but their ridiculous hidden fees and hidden policies, and their unwillingness to work with you, made me write my first one star review ever.
